Côa Valley Hosted the International Meeting of Prehistoric Art Guides for the Fourth Time
On 27, 28 and 29 January 2026, Vila Nova de Foz Côa hosted the 22nd International Meeting of Prehistoric Art Guides, bringing together 35 professionals working at rock art sites in Cantabria, Asturias and the Dordogne.
Organised by the Côa Parque Foundation in collaboration with the Siega Verde Foundation, the meeting marked the resumption of this travelling event after a lengthy interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the fourth time the Côa Valley had hosted the event, following the editions held in 2006, 2010 and 2018.
The programme fostered a deeper understanding of the Côa Valley’s heritage, strengthened collaborative networks and encouraged the exchange of experiences among professionals whose daily work involves safeguarding, interpreting and promoting prehistoric rock art.
