Colmeal rock art

The rock art of Colmeal is part of a large quartzite massif in Serra da Marofa. At the base of the rocky massif are three small shelters open, in various vertical panels, there are various painted motifs, almost all in red ochre, but including a rare set of black painted figures.
The painted figurative ensemble, composed of approximately fifty motifs, where human representations predominate, belongs to the so-called Schematic Art, a figurative expression of the first prehistoric farming communities, that is present in almost the entire Iberian Peninsula and chronologically stretches from the 6th to the 3rd millennium.C.
