🔬 SCIENCE IN THE SPOTLIGHT!
From 23 to 29 November 2026, we celebrate Science and Technology Week, an initiative that brings science closer to everyone!
Throughout the week, scientific institutions, universities, schools, museums and science centres across Portugal will host talks, exhibitions, science cafés and hands-on activities, inviting everyone to discover, explore and learn.
📅 24 November – National Day of Scientific and Technological Culture
This date also marks the presentation of the Ciência Viva Awards, which recognise individuals and initiatives of exceptional merit in science and technology communication in Portugal.
📸 New this year! Ciência Viva, in partnership with Wikimedia Portugal, is launching a new category: the Ciência Viva Science and Technology Photography Award, which aims to showcase science through the lens of photography.

Did you know that the National Day of Scientific Culture was established in 1996 in honour of Rómulo de Carvalho, a teacher, poet and science communicator born on 24 November? The following year, the celebration was extended to a full week!
🌍 Because science belongs to everyone and is for everyone, join us in celebrating curiosity, knowledge and discovery!
