CôaMedPlants

On National Science and Culture Day, November 24th, we will get to know the results of one of the projects funded by FCT – CôaMedPlants – led by the researcher from iCBR-FMUC, Dr. Célia Cabral.

CôaMedPlants is an innovative interdisciplinary research project that aims to preserve cultural heritage related to medicinal plant practices in the Côa Valley and to enhance it through scientific validation of their properties based on biochemical characterization, the study of biological activities, and mechanisms of action of their extracts. The project will focus on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) / non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a condition associated with unhealthy eating and lifestyles that can lead to cirrhosis and hepatocarcinoma.
