The project ‘Estórias da casa e do plantio’ (Stories of the House and the Planting) invokes the need for a reconnection with ancestral wisdom and ecological awareness, emphasizing the importance of plants in sustaining life on Earth, health, food, air purification, and architecture.
Thus, the artistic research and working process of ‘Estórias da casa e do plantio’ result in presentations grounded in an artistic practice centered on the ethics of care and the responsible relationship between community and environment, human and non-human beings. It rejects the idea that the planet exists to serve us through unlimited resources. The materialization of the sculptures, which draws upon memories of vernacular architecture, considers the relationship between the body, architectural elements, and space, using materials that have accompanied us for millennia but have fallen into disuse, such as wool, linen, straw, and clay.
Imagining a community green pharmacy, sculptures rise as a way to exalt Nature—living sculptures covered in medicinal plants that require care while simultaneously providing it.
