Marialva Castle

Upon entering Marialva, we have the feeling that we are entering a historic setting, the streets, flanked by buildings that are resistant to time, lead us to the citadel surrounded by the walls in whose ruins we have lost track of time. Inside the walls, the square stands out, solemnly marked by the Pelourinho and by the building of the old Town Hall, also a courthouse and jail (17th century); a few meters further on, the keep and the Church of Santiago, appreciated for its carved altarpiece, and the Senhor dos Passos Chapel, also known as the Misericórdia Chapel, with its painted coffered ceiling, are real treasures built inside the walled enclosure.
