This exhibition, coordinated by António Martinho Baptista, marks the closing of the celebrations of the twentieth anniversary of UNESCO’s classification of the Prehistoric Art of the Côa Valley as World Heritage.

The exhibition presents the history of the discovery, struggle for preservation and UNESCO classification of the Côa Art, a period known as “The Battle of the Côa”, whose outcome resulted in a paradigmatic change in management, safeguarding and enjoyment of cultural heritage in Portugal.
