The exhibition explores the island\u2019s pastoral strategies and dynamics, addressing themes such as herding, communication, and orientation. Initially displayed in Funchal between October 2024 and January 2025, it now arrives at the C\u00f4a Museum in March 2025 with a new focus on the languages of the mountains.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"562\">The exhibition features two main video pieces:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"564\" data-end=\"1083\">\n<li data-start=\"564\" data-end=\"774\">\n<p data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"774\"><strong data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"588\">Prayer to the Ears<\/strong> \u2013 Examines the visual code of ear cuts on goats and sheep used by shepherds for identification. This practice, passed down through generations, forms a unique and symbolic vocabulary.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"776\" data-end=\"1083\">\n<p data-start=\"778\" data-end=\"1083\"><strong data-start=\"778\" data-end=\"825\">The Speech of Goats and Shepherds \u2013 Madeira<\/strong> \u2013 A study on the communication between shepherds and their animals, documenting vocalizations and calls characteristic of Madeira. During the residency, the strong influence of the region\u2019s topography on how sounds echo through the landscape was observed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1085\" data-end=\"1279\">The exhibition is part of the <em data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1130\">Inter-species<\/em> axis of the <em data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1155\">Semeadores<\/em> project, which seeks to explore the flows between rural and urban spaces, connecting landscape, history, and ethnography.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1281\" data-end=\"1493\">Alexandre Delmar is a visual artist who investigates human\/non-human relationships, oral traditions, and survival strategies.
