The C\u00f4a Parque\u00a0– Foundation for the Safeguarding and Development of the C\u00f4a Valley, also known as C\u00f4a Parque Foundation<\/strong>, was created in 2011<\/strong> to manage<\/strong> the\u00a0C\u00f4a Valley\u00a0Archaeological Park<\/strong> and the C\u00f4a<\/strong> Museum<\/strong>. Its\u00a0goals are the\u00a0protection<\/strong>, conservation<\/strong>, research<\/strong>\u00a0and promotion <\/strong>of\u00a0the\u00a0C\u00f4a Valley\u00a0<\/strong>Rock Art<\/strong> and other\u00a0heritage<\/strong> features in the region.<\/p>\n

Through the ongoing\u00a0archaeology cultural project<\/strong>, the major aim of the Foundation is to promote the integrated development<\/strong> of the region, bringing together partners and private economic agents, highlighting the importance of cultural dynamics<\/strong> and its contribution to the well-being<\/strong> of the Country.<\/p>\n

Its initial founders<\/strong> were IGESPAR, ARH Norte, Entidade Regional de Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal<\/a>, Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Munic\u00edpios de Vale do C\u00f4a and the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz C\u00f4a. In 2017<\/strong>, other entities joined as partners: Turismo de Portugal<\/a>,\u00a0Ag\u00eancia Portuguesa do Ambiente<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Secretaria de Estado da Ci\u00eancia, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior<\/a>. The\u00a0Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Munic\u00edpios de Vale do C\u00f4a<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0municipality of Vila Nova de Foz C\u00f4a<\/a>\u00a0remained as founders as well as Dire\u00e7\u00e3o-Geral do Patrim\u00f3nio Cultural<\/a>,\u00a0successor of IGESPAR .<\/p>\n

The C\u00f4a Parque Foundation intends that all undertaken cultural activities<\/strong> are elements that stimulate a plan for the economic<\/strong> and social<\/strong> development<\/strong> of the Douro and of the Country. Such approach combines\u00a0cultural<\/strong> heritage<\/strong> with economy<\/strong>, leisure<\/strong> with knowledge<\/strong>, research<\/strong> with tourism<\/strong>, thus multiplying employment and contributing to the renewal<\/strong> of the region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

C\u00f4a Park – Foundation for the Safeguarding and Development of the C\u00f4a Valley was established by Decree-Law no. 35\/2011, of March 8, as a public foundation under a private law regime, with the main purposes of safeguarding, researching, promoting and valuing the C\u00f4a Valley rock art. Meanwhile, the Framework Law of Foundations, approved by Law no. 24\/2012 of July 9, amended and republished by Law no. 150\/2015, of September 10, determined its respective application to already established and recognized public foundations under private law regime, thus imposing the adaptation of the denomination and statutes of the Foundation to the provisions of the aforementioned law.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, following the vicissitudes suffered by the Foundation since its inception, the Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 79\/2016, of November 30<\/a>, identified the main strategic guidelines for the objectives to be pursued.<\/p>\n
