Anthropocene 2021 Forum

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education is organizing the ANTHROPOCENE FORUM, at the Côa Museum, from June 15 to 17, in the context of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union. The event promotes dialogue with the Anthropocene Working Group (2009) which is responsible for providing convincing evidence for the Anthropocene to be formally ratified by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) as a geological age, as well as the European Union’s perspective in terms of debate, legislation and diplomacy. We also highlight the Portuguese government’s measure to create the Anthropocene Observatory, which will be based at the Côa Museum and will work closely with other European institutions, including the Anthropocene Formations group of the Max Plack Institute for the History of Science, creating bonds for a greater participation of Lusophony.
